These are pictures of our house taken on Friday December 21, 2007. Everything has been emptied from the house and it is now ready for total demolition...down to the ground!! Looking at the base of the driveway, you can see painted markings/instructions for the wrecking crew. Hopefully they see this and don't accidentally start working on some other house elsewere in the neighborhood. Now that we're physically out of the house, we can get the gas company along with the folks at SoCal Edison to turn off their appropriate utilities. Once the utilities are turned off, we can then get the final permits needed to begin the the teardown. It's already been long bureacratic process...and we haven't even started yet!!
Original plans were to fire-up the bulldozers and begin the demolition on Christmas morning. My belief that that would be a great idea that would create for us (and our neighbors) a special Christmas memory, was cast aside and quickly faded when Gina reminded me how stupid that would be. Another great idea dashed on the rocks.
Just in case you haven't guessed it yet, we are in the process of tearing down our existing home so we can build a brand-spanking new two and a half story house in it's place. Watch this page for regular updates and some of the backstory regarding how and why, we are taking on such a monumental feat. Hopefully we'll be providing everyone with a front row seat at the process of new home construction. It should be exciting, educational, painful and entertaining for all. Sit back, grab a snack and let's all see what happens!!
